The Value of Supporting Your Community as a Real Estate Agent
Just like there’s inherent value in establishing yourself in your community once you become a real estate agent, there’s even more value to be found in supporting your community.
Not only does being a part of the communities you serve as an individual benefit your business, but if you work with ROOST, we encourage our agents to find ways to carve out space for themselves and their passions within a community or other organizations, such as charities.
For example, if you are someone who runs marathons to raise money for charity, you’re going to meet people. These people may naturally take an interest in what you do for a living and maybe a conversation with you will remind them of someone they know who is looking to buy or sell a house.
Or, even better, maybe that person will be in the market for a real estate agent. They’ll consider you first because you’ve already shown up for the community, you share a common bond of charity or a specific organization’s work, and you’re a familiar face.
ROOST’s “We Support What You Support” Program
At ROOST, we don’t just encourage our agents to be a part of their communities and different programs within the areas they work, we have a whole program dedicated to supporting what our agents support.
I was introduced to the concept of cause marketing at Target and helped use the basics of this model to create ROOST’s “We Support What You Support” program, which is another reason why many agents choose to partner with us, especially if they’re already passionate about supporting their communities or taking part in different charitable organizations that are local. However, instead of the Target way – choosing causes the company supports – we look to our agents and invest in what they value.
I’ll give you another example.
One of our agents has grandchildren who play baseball in a local league. The league was looking to put up a banner, and we helped sponsor that banner with our agent. What ended up happening was we split the cost to sponsor this banner for our agent’s grandkids’ baseball team and, instead of a ROOST banner, it was a banner with her name, face, and ROOST’s logo.
We wanted to promote our agent to the direct recipients of this donation, which boosts her business’ visibility and, in turn, gives our agent more reason to value our brokerage.
Final Thoughts
You’ll know you’ve chosen the best real estate brokerage to work for when your values align. ROOST agents who want to be part of their communities and see the inherent value of community find that the support we give our agents allows them to practice, track, and grow their business through continually fostering these connections. And connections, as we all know, are the central focus of what we do.
We connect people to the next stage of their lives, we help them during transitory periods, and we celebrate those big moments with them. A good real estate brokerage supports what you support – and that’s what we’re all about. Our agents are primed to do their best work when they feel supported, and when they can go to work with the confidence that their values are upheld and they can conduct their businesses in a way that’s comfortable for them, not just successful.
It’s great to make money, but it’s also great to give back and provide your community with more than just a valued service. Plus, if you naturally gravitate toward social and charitable events that potentially can put your name out there and get people talking, there’s no way to lose.
So, when you create your business and think about how you want to make money in the real estate business, think back to the community and all its untapped potential. We’ve got your back.
